These are the sketches I made to finalize the concept for the Grouper probe from Battle-Nauts. The idea was to evoke something bulky and slightly goofy-looking, but still intimidating–basically, the look of the actual grouper fish. A cylindrical body with bevel edges and a tapering tail suggested the "space fish" look, it was putting the proper solar panels on it that was the trouble.
