Travel Sketches

Sketches from my travels to, from, and around the workshop.

The Challenger, Round Two

Yes, there's more!  A short story accompanying The Challenger is coming soon to my blog and Kindle store.  Here's a shot of the cover image, currently in progress.

Workshop Art: Insectoid Soldier

More art from the workshop!  Keeping with the rhinoceros beetle theme, I concocted a combination of fantasy soldier and insect.

Done! Finished with a coat of matte medium and black colored pencil details.

Workshop Sketches

Drawings from Allen Williams' workshop!  Today's assignment was to take a rhinoceros beetle and experiment with combing it with other things, any things.

Preliminary sketches.

I tried blending a rhinoceros beetle and an elephant.

Anatomy - Sketches 10/24/14

Belated notice that I'm practicing human anatomy this week, specifically the muscular system.

I was thinking of angels and demons, and a little on the Book of Revelations.

Workshop Participation Imminent

I'm about to take part in one of the illustration workshops offered by TLC Workshops...updates coming soon!  I've heard many good things about these people, check out their website for more information.

The orb weaver painting is done!  You can see the "before" picture here.

The Sniper, Part 6

The orange wasn't intense enough.  Cadmium deep red was.  This is turning out far more dramatic than I thought, and for that I am pleased.  Now only the figures need doing.

Spy Lady

Nothing complicated, just an attractive master jewel thief.

Louse #3

The scanner is in rebellion again, stranding my giant-louse-stomping-tanks picture in the sketchbook.  To make up for that, here's a louse who knows his thematic lighting.
I am a bit under the weather, posts may be slow.  You could say I'm feeling somewhat...lousy right now.  *audience groans*

The Sniper, Part 5

One-third of the way through the color on The Sniper!  This time I'm painting in the background first, and then doing the figures.  Liquid masking fluid is making the process much easier.  It's a blessing.  Use it.

Louse #2

Great little monsters, aren't they?  Looking at the microscopic photos of them, you'd think there would be a movie of giant lice stomping NYC or something by now.

The Sniper, now with color

Finally got back to this thing.  Progress will likely be slow, work is kicking my butt.

Eeeek!

Quickie sketch before a surprise work shift.  By the way, this week is Lice week.

Space Sketches

Thinking about the potential sequel to Battle-Nauts.  Mobile space stations, sleeper ships, armed explorer shuttles, and the like.

Unfinished Metalhead

A metalhead magical lady who I started, and never got the time to finish.

Slow for Synthashredder

So I was thinking, what happens when you cross a vigilante who doesn't like elevator music with a crazy-skilled keyboard musician?  And thus I had my newest character, Synthashredder, who travels far and wide shredding generic music with his mad synths.

Hero?  Anti-hero?  Villain?  I don't know.  I'll find out.

Also, posting will be slow this week, my job has entered another busy phase.
